Sagamiya Foods and Fuji Oil Holdings Establish the Joint Venture Daizu the Origin Co., Ltd.

On December 1, 2015, Sagamiya Foods Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Maebashi-shi, Gunma Prefecture, capitalization: 80 million yen, President: Junji Torigoe, hereinafter “Sagamiya Foods”) and Fuji Oil Holdings Inc. (headquarters: Kita-ku, Osaka-shi, Osaka Prefecture, capitalization: 13,208 million yen, listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, President & CEO: Hiroshi Shimizu, hereinafter “Fuji Oil Holdings”) established a new company, Daizu the Origin Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Maebashi-shi, Gunma Prefecture, capitalization: 35 million yen (capital reserves of 35 million yen), President: Junji Torigoe, hereinafter “Daizu the Origin Co., Ltd.”).
As a manufacturer of processed soy food products, Sagamiya Foods has captured the leading share of the tofu market, while Fuji Oil Holdings is developing business in oils & fats, confectionery & bakery ingredients, and soy protein on a global scale. The two companies have been collaborating with each other since the conclusion of an agreement for business partnership in processed soy food product projects in December 2014. Sagamiya Foods used the soy cream created with the USS Manufacturing Method*, a technology developed by Fuji Oil Holdings, to develop and sell a new category of tofu product named “Natural Tofu Mascarpone-taste” and open up a new market for tofu. In recognition of this accomplishment, it was presented with the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award in the 2015 Monozukuri Nippon Grand Awards.
* USS Manufacturing Method (Ultra Soy Separation Manufacturing Method): The world’s first soy separation and fractionation technology, developed by Fuji Oil.
The establishment of this new company is aimed at a more extensive translation of the partnership projects into actual results, for linkage to further advancement and expansion. It represents the fusion of the marketing capabilities of Sagamiya Foods, which is generating new markets for tofu through its development of tofu products with a new sensibility, and the technical know-how of Fuji Oil Holdings, whose food ingredients are based on a wealth of knowledge about soybeans. This fusion of capabilities will empower the two companies to pursue the development of new-concept processed soy foods while paying particular attention to flavor and healthiness, and maintaining a close relationship with consumers. Our aspiration is to open up a new world by actualizing the possibilities of soybeans. We shall strive to expand the market for processed soy foods mainly around products designed for consumers in general, through activities extending to the development of new sales sites and even distribution methods.
The new company Daizu the Origin Co., Ltd. will provide new types of processed soy products that reflect concern for the earth and human health, and respond to the wants and needs of all sorts of people around the world. We shall send messages from Japan to the rest of the world in order to spread knowledge about the delicious new flavors of soy, with a keen sense of our mission to save the world with soybeans.
