Fuji Oil Presents Speech at “Symposium on Human Resources Development in ASEAN (Indonesia)” on January 21, 2014

As part of the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, the Secretariat of ASEAN and Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) held the “Symposium on Human Resources Development in Food-related Area through Partnership with ASEAN Universities” on January 21, 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia. With the Fuji Oil Group’s long experience of developing business in the ASEAN region, President Yoshida of group company Fuji Oil Asia presented a speech at this symposium.

Many companies from Japan are doing business in ASEAN countries, but securing “local leaders” who master Japanese technology and also possess full knowledge of the local culture has been a sought-after issue. As part of assisting this issue, MAFF has provided courses as a form of donation to major universities in ASEAN countries and shared lectures covering the Japanese method of food processing and distribution to help contribute to reducing food loss and establish agriculture and food value-chains. Nine participating ASEAN countries reported that they are still short on human resources in both quantity and quality who can lead production and quality management in the food industry.

The Fuji Oil Group hopes to further contribute to the region, including with its efforts on developing human resources.
