Participation in the TICAD VI
(6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development)

Fuji Oil Holdings Inc. participated in the TICAD VI (6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development), which was held in Nairobi, Kenya on August 27 and 28. At a business conference held in advance of TICAD on August 26, Hiroshi Shimizu, President & CEO of Fuji Oil Holdings, made an appearance and delivered an address. In his address, he introduced International Oils & Fats Ltd., a Fuji Oil affiliate in Ghana, and described the significance of the business promotion by the Fuji Oil Group in Africa. He also expressed his thanks for the cooperation by all concerned parties in Africa.

The Fuji Oil Group additionally took part in the exhibition event "Japan Fair", which was held in conjunction with TICAD VI and hosted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Japan External Trade Organization. At the booth operated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, we publicized our approaches to improvement of nutrition and other efforts toward our goal of health management to concerned people from various African countries.

The Fuji Oil Group is engaged in the manufacture and sale of hard butters for chocolate through International Oils & Fats. Foods using chocolate are diversifying worldwide, and we have begun full-fledged use of shea butter, which is produced only in Africa, for response to all sorts of wants and needs. In 2015, we improved our procurement network in Ghana and Burkina Faso for stable supply of shea nuts, from which shea butter is made. From now on, the Fuji Oil Group is aiming for contribution to Africa, which has good prospects for future growth, through products including soy protein. The next installment of TICAD is slated to be held in Japan three years later.
