The Fats and Oils Business represents the foundation on which the Fuji Oil Group was founded and is the mainstay business representing the core of our technology.
Using palm and coconut oil as raw materials, we develop, manufacture, and sell food oils, oils for food processing, and hard butters for chocolate.
In particular, our hard butters for chocolate are preferred around the world for providing improved functionality, including helping create chocolate that melts in the mouth and chocolate that is heat resistant.
Today, our hard butters for chocolate boast a worldwide Top 3 market share.

      Palm oil is a core raw material and throughout history new food cultures have been developed through the pursuit of the possibilities of palm oil. Our Group strives for sustainable palm oil procurement that respects the environment and human rights. To this purpose, we promote activities in accordance with the Responsible Palm Oil Sourcing Policy.

    • We use various technology, including hardening, separation, and transesterification to process raw oils.

      Taking advantage of palm oil’s property as an oil with multiple melting points, we develop oils and fats with functionality to match the preparation and processing requirements of various foods.

Future developments

In addition to social issues such as population aging and environmental conservation, changing preferences are also driving a global shift towards a focus on health-conscious foods. The Fuji Oil Group develops oils and fats enriched with DHA and EPA, which are linked to reducing the risk of dementia, to support easy daily consumption and reduced salt with oils and fats using new manufacturing methods that improve flavor. With these healthy oils and fats, we will work to resolve the health and nutritional issues facing society.

The Fuji Oil Group applies technology cultivated through
the Oils and Fats Business towards developing the confectionary and
bakery ingredients.
At present, this business comprises over 50% of Group income,
representing a core business that is supporting the Group.

We provide products that are vital to confectionary and bakery goods, including chocolate, whipped cream, margarine, and filings.

We boast the top share in Japan for industrial use chocolate and we are expanding our global market share by establishing locations in Europe,
the Americas, and Asia.

We provide a diverse range of confectionary and bakery ingredients to meet various needs.

      The Fuji Oil Group is expanding our purchasing of traceable cacao beans to promote the creation of a system of sustainable cacao production and consumption.
      Traceable cacao makes it possible to confirm that production and distribution are being conducted using methods that respect the environment and human rights. A portion of the purchase price is applied towards infrastructure development and education at the production sights.

    • We purchase fermented cacao beans, which we then roast and mill to create the cacao mass that serves as the raw material for chocolate.

    • Raw materials such as cacao mass, sugar, dairy products, and fat are blended to create chocolate.
      The characteristics of the chocolate will vary depending on the type of fat that is used.
      Fuji Oil uses hard butters for chocolate produced by our Oils and Fats Division to create chocolates with a wide range of applications and quality levels.

Future developments

Compound chocolate (chocolate made using hard butters for chocolate) are mainly sold in Asia and South America, areas that are expected to see significant chocolate market growth in the future.
The Fuji Oil Group is experts in the refining technology used to create hard butters for chocolate, a vital component in compound chocolate.
With a focus on compound chocolate, we will engage in promising markets as we aim to be a top global player supporting the world’s chocolate markets.

For the more than half-century since our founding, the Fuji Oil Group has remained the world's only comprehensive soybean food manufacturer dedicated to soybean research.

With the technology we have developed through years of research, we provide highly functional food ingredients, including soy protein ingredients, soy protein foods, soy peptides, and water soluble soy polysaccharides, as well as premium soy milk products based on the world's USS manufacturing method.

We will continue to use soybeans to contribute to people’s health and nutrition, and continue the development of products that pursue the true delicious taste of soybeans.

      The Fuji Oil Group procures non-GMO soybeans from North America, China, and Japan. We work with our partners to implement strict separation management during transport and storage in order to prevent cross-contamination between non-GMO soybeans and GMO soybeans, which are the subject of concerns of a potential link to the destruction of biodiversity.
